Safe solutions for hazardous areas: ATEX-certified product recovery technology

The demands for explosion protection are increasing - especially in the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries, where the highest safety standards are essential. With AWH’s ATEX-certified products, we now offer reliable, practical, and globally compatible components for use in potentially explosive atmospheres within product recovery technology, including the Hygiene Inline Station and the drive controller.

What does ATEX stand for?

ATEX stands for “Atmosphères Explosibles” and encompasses the European directives on explosion protection. Equipment components used in potentially explosive atmospheres - such as those caused by the presence of gases, vapors, or dust - must be manufactured and certified in accordance with ATEX. The most important directive, 2014/34/EU, sets out the requirements for equipment and protective systems to ensure safe operation in designated zones.

AWH Hygiene Inline-Station – sicher und vielseitig für Ex-Bereiche

The Hygiene Inline Station is designed for maximum flexibility and safety in systems that handle explosive media.

It meets the explosion protection requirements of Directive 2014/34/EU and is ideally suited for various applications in the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

Appropriate equipment category classification according to 2014/34/EU for manufacturers:

  • Outdoor areas:
    • Equipment category 2G, 3G (Gas Ex: Area with intermittent/low probability of explosive gas atmosphere)
    • Equipment category 2D, 3D (Dust Ex)
  • Indoor areas: Equipment category 2G, 3G
  • ATEX categories available with and without VMON (control head) and VMove (valve actuator)

Key technical features:

  • Compatibility with ATEX-certified pig detection systems, end-position detection, and temperature sensors
  • Wide range of seal materials (e.g., EPDM, HNBR, FKM, FFKM) for a variety of media and requirements
  • Standard nominal diameters, operating pressure PN10
  • Expandable valve peripherals (Customization to meet specific customer requirements is possible)
  • Reliable and customizable to meet your process requirements

Drive Controller – Precise Control in Explosive Atmospheres

The ATEX-certified drive controller is the ideal solution for reliable and safe pigging operations, even in potentially explosive atmospheres. It enables the controlled delivery of gaseous propellants, ensuring that pigs perform their tasks accurately and safely.

ATEX version and suitability:

  • Ex Zone 2: II 2/3G Ex IIC T6 – safety tested for gas-explosive atmospheres
  • Variants:
    • Borosilicate glass (25–250 l/min, 50–500 l/min, 75–750 l/min) – shatterproof, calibrated measuring cone, corrosion-resistant
    • Polysulfone (35–250 l/min, 60–500 l/min) – no risk of splintering, chemically resistant, PVDF float
  • For operating pressures up to PN10

Technical Details and Advantages:

  • Fluid-specific scales allow for precise control of the drive medium
  • Lockable housing for additional operational safety
  • High-quality internal surfaces, robust design, and long service life
